FS2 topic this half term

February 19, 2012 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News, Uncategorized by Miss SHAW

Well that’s another half term holiday down and now it’s back to school. Just to let you know that our new topic this half term will be ‘Growing’.  We will be looking at plants, animals and how we grow too.  I’m sure it will be  fun and full of information for all the children.  For the first few weeks we will be combining ‘Growing’ and ‘Fairytales’.  We will be looking at ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ first and then the ‘Enormous Turnip’.

If any of you have any seeds, plants, herbs etc that we could grow we would really appreciate them.  We are really going to concentrate on developing our outdoor area so all donations will be appreciated  eg  plants, tubs, gardening equipment, furniture etc.

Thank you

Chinese New Year in FS2

January 29, 2012 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News, Uncategorized by Miss SHAW

The children had lots of fun and a very enjoyable and hard working week.  Part of their learning was to understand different cultures and be aware of how other cultures celebrate.

They did a variety of activities including -

  • writing Chinese numbers
  • painting the Chinese symbols for animals
  • making masks
  • colouring pictures and
  • tasting Chinese food

Maths Workshop-FS2

January 25, 2012 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News by Miss SHAW

You may have read in the recent newsletter that we would like to run a maths workshop on  Wednesdays at 3 o’clock.  For this workshop to take place we need 4/5 volunteers to run some of the activities.  Unfortunately at the minute we are unable to start this workshop as we do not have enough adults to run the activities.  We are really grateful to the parents who come into school to listen to readers and we would like the maths workshop to be equally successful.  If you can spare half an hour on a Wednesday afternoon and would like to take part in the workshop can you please speak to myself or Mrs Brooke.

Thank you for all the support!

January 11, 2012 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News by Mrs A KING

Please note that we have had one confirmed case and another suspected case of measles in our F1 class. An information sheet has been sent out to all F1 parents. Please keep an eye out for symptoms and do not bring your child to school if you suspect that they may have them.

Thank you

F! January newsletter

January 10, 2012 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News by Mrs A KING

9 January 2012

Dear Parents/Carers

It is lovely to have the children back, after what was hopefully a lovely Christmas break for all. Please take a few moments to read these messages.

Topic work

This half term our topic is Fairytales. Please encourage your child to talk about these stories at home. We are beginning with ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. If anyone has any unwanted items related to this topic, we would be very grateful for donations of things such as dressing up outfits and fairytale toys/games etc.

Spare clothes

As you would expect at this age, children in F1 often have toilet accidents. We have just had to purchase more underwear, and we are running quite low on spare clothes. If your child goes home wearing any items of clothing from school, please wash and return these items as soon as possible. Also, if anyone has any unwanted clothes, perhaps that your child has outgrown, we would appreciate donations to use as spares.

Winter Weather

Despite the unfortunate British weather, children must have access to outdoor play (except for in extreme conditions). Please ensure that children have appropriate clothing, and encourage them to try to put things on independently. It would be helpful for children to leave wellington boots and a waterproof coat at school, as our playground very often has lots of puddles and mud on it!

Names in clothes

Finally, a reminder to please put children’s names in their coats, cardigans, jumpers, hats, etc. Even shoes, if you have noticed that another child has the same style.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs King.

Foundation Stage 2

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and support this year.

I’m sure you will agree that the children did extremely well in their Christingle and Nativity concert.

Thank you very much for all the presents and cards we have received.

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

FS/KS1 Christmas Concert and Party

November 28, 2011 in Foundation Stage, Front Page News by Mrs A KING

All F1 children will be ‘stars’ in our concert.  We would appreciate it if you could send a
large, plain white t-shirt for your child to wear. This should have no logos or
motifs and should be long enough for your child to wear without trousers
underneath (possibly adult-sized). Please do not send a ready-made outfit for
your child to wear. We would like all of the children to wear the same outfit
at minimal cost. All children will wear matching star headbands, which will be
made in school.

Our Christmas party is on Wednesday 14th December,
starting at 12:30pm and finishing at 3:30pm; therefore there will be no morning
session on that day. Children should have lunch before they arrive, as they
will only be given party snacks and drinks. Any contributions of party snacks
would be gratefully received. Children are free to come in party clothes!

Thank you.
