Fancy winning a £10 gift voucher? Why don’t you enter our ‘Green Fingers Competition’?
As the Gardeners of HWPS, we are working hard to look after and improve the outdoor areas of school, not only to improve the school environment but also so we can make greater use of the outdoor space to help us with our learning.
We are seeking the help and expertise of members of the school and local community. We wish to send out a letter to local businesses and community groups to ask them if they could support our projects by providing help and advice or materials.
We invite you to write a letter to inform members of the school and local community what we aim to do and asking for any support or advice. The person who pens the winning letter, chosen by the Gardeners, will win a £10.00 gift voucher and their letter will be sent out to the community.
All entries need to be handed to the Gardeners by Thursday 23rd February and the winner will be announced in the celebration assembly on Friday 24th February.
So what are you waiting for, get those green fingers writing!
Year 6 Gardeners.

In Numeracy we are currently looking at 2-d shapes and the children have been finding out the names and properties of shapes. The above website has some useful games to support the children investigating shapes.

weeklytimetable 16.1.12AddSubLanguageQnsHomeworkHi!
We are thoroughly enjoying our new topic of people and places, studying the human body, reading adventure stories and looking at the art work of Lowry.
The children have really made a fantastic start to the year and are working especially hard to improve the presentation of their work by really putting lots of effort into their handwriting. Many children have also been very focused on their understanding of numbers by colour coding the hundreds, tens and units in numbers which has really helped.
There is a lot of language in mathematics and the children have been given some homework to focus on addition words and the different ways in questions that we are asked to add.
Can I just remind parent that baking money is now due and this week some of us will be baking scones. We are also continuing with the read around challenges so could parents please record that the children are reading at least 3 times per week. P.E. Kits- these are needed for outdoor on a Monday and on a Wednesday for indoor.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Hannan
