The term has started well. We were delighted to receive a letter from the new Assistant Director of Education to say after considering a range of evidence relating to our school’s performance our school had been graded as ‘a school that is sustaining excellence’. This added to the delight I felt when I read in the Doncaster Star of our position in the primary school league tables, which were published during the Christmas holiday. We were 11th of the 88 Doncaster Schools. Whilst this is pleasing, we aim to be in the top ten!
Talent Competition
The School Council have been keen to pursue an idea requested by one of year 5 pupils, that we hold a ‘Hatfield Woodhouse Has Got Talent’ competition this half term. Competitors will be from Key Stage 2 classes. Initially the heats will take place within the classes, with each class voting for 4 class-winning acts performing in front of the school between the dates of 30th January and 6th February.
The finals will be held on 7th February and be recorded on Cover It live on our website, for an online vote.
Read Around Reward
We were delighted that over 60 children attended our ‘Read-Around Reward Day’ for reading 3 times at home to an adult every week of the Autumn term. The children enjoyed creating and implementing treasure hunts around the school before finding a treasure chest filled with chocolates, sweets and toys. The date for the next ‘Read-Around Reward’ is Tuesday 27th March – please help your child to be one of those taking part by hearing them read regularly.
